A Tasty Discovery
We recently had the privilege of making an incredible discovery while meeting with friends for dinner. As you may know, I am a big fan of sandwiches.
Sandwiches have been my favorite food for most of my life. I even remember that as a little boy, my favorite story in the Highlights magazine was about a guy that made a gigantic sandwich. Sandwiches and I go way back.
A couple of weeks ago we were invited by some friends from church to meet for dinner at a restaurant called The Black Sheep. It was our first time to eat there, and we weren't quite sure what to expect other than hearing that their food was pretty good. I'll cut to the chase.
I was thrilled to open up their menu and discover that they truly loved sandwiches as much as I do. It's not the only thing that they make, as their menu is full of variety, but they definitely honor the sandwich by noting that theirs "aren't subs, they're battleships." They are each given different battleship names, and they come with "a knife for doing battle" and "a napkin to signify your surrender." When we saw a table nearby get served their sandwich, it quickly became apparent that the menu was not exaggerating. Their sandwiches are the length of 4 sandwiches - they use an entire long French loaf just to make one sandwich! We shared one that lasted a total of 4 meals (2 meals per person), and I was thrilled to discover it tasted even better than it looked.
It's always a banner day when I discover a new source for high-quality sandwiches. I'm pleased to recommend The Black Sheep the next time you're visiting Richmond and in the mood for a tasty sub, er, battleship. To learn more, check out their website.
