Study Habits

A recent article in the New York Times tells us to "forget what we know about good study habits."

Considering this is the time of year for students to return to their books, I thought it provided some interesting reading regarding studies that have sought to identify the most effective study habits.  Among its findings, the article encourages students to change their settings as they study, to study in "spaces" that allow the brain to forget items it learned previously and then re-learn them, and to also vary the type of material studied during a single study session.

I have traditionally not followed these suggestions in my study habits, usually studying one subject at a time in a specific location, but I may give them a try and see if I can notice a difference.  If you're interested in reading the article, click here.
