Fall Jazz

As fall approaches, one of the memories I carry of growing up during the autumn season in Dallas is the presence of jazz music...during school the fall semester would bring a new jazz ensemble, we'd spend time rehearsing and preparing for jazz concerts later in the semester, we'd prepare for tryouts for regional jazz ensembles, and there were usually plenty of jazz performances that would be of interest.

I recently found out that one of my former classmates in jazz band, Peter Clagett, is now a member of the One O'Clock Lab Band at the University of North Texas, which is a very prestigious achievement for jazz musicians and truthfully a pretty big deal. I can't say I'm surprised by his success as he was always an extremely talented trumpet player, but I am happy to be able to say I enjoyed the opportunity of playing with him years ago.

I'd encourage you to check out the One O'Clock Lab Band if you haven't heard of them before: http://www.jazz.unt.edu/oneoclock/.
