Lord of the Rest

"Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food."
--Isaiah 55:1-2

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."
--Matthew 11:28-29

"Thou art a port protected from storms that round us rise;
A garden intersected with streams of paradise;
Thou art a cooling fountain in life's dry dreary sand;
From Thee, like Pisgah's mountain, we view our promised land."
--Christopher Wordsworth, "O Day of Rest and Gladness"

"Other refuge have I none, I helpless hang on Thee.
Leave, oh leave me not alone; support and comfort me.
All my trust on Thee is stayed, all help from Thee I bring.
Cover my defenseless head in the shadow of Thy wing."
--Charles Wesley, "Jesus, Lover of My Soul"

"Bane and blessing, pain and pleasure,
By the cross are sanctified;
There's a peace that knows no measure,
Joys that through all time abide."
--John Bowring, "In the Cross of Christ"
