Some foods are so good that people become enthusiasts or even fanatics about them. Other foods are so extraordinary, people have to sign a waiver to enjoy them. I read one article about a restaurant in England requiring those who order plum pudding to sign a document that waives the restaurant of liability! To read more about it, click here. Sometimes there are foods that people save for a really long time, waiting for an occasion that is appropriate to celebrate with such a food. Take, for example, some really old cheese from Wisconsin. Then there are foods that are so good, people can forget what they're doing and lose all self-awareness while enjoying them, even criminals. I think what each of these stories point to is that people really like food and will do some funny things in attempts to enjoy them.

that's the same cheese i got for hannah (i haven't got to try it yet...a lady in the cheese shop warned me that really old cheese can taste "soapy" and she recommended the 3 year aged cheddar. but like the article says...cheese is an art form, and it's not too often you find something this rare, so soapy or not, I got it) I also got a cheddar cheese made with real maple syrup. Very different, but enjoyable.
